True random number generator: real entropy vs pseudorandom

A true random number generator (TRNG) draws unpredictability from sources nobody can choose. A PRNG expands a seed: the sequence looks random but is fully determined by that seed.

Why hidden PRNGs fail public draws

If the seed is secret or controlled by one party, others cannot prove fairness. Trust stays centralized.

Public data is not automatically unpredictable

entropy.jpg is public on purpose so anyone can audit the image hash. That helps verification and is not enough as the only surprise: a public constant plus chosen text is still choosable.

Where the surprise lives

EntropyDraw waits for a future drand beacon (League of Entropy) after the rules are locked. SHA-256 then binds that beacon to the locked list or range. Name draws also expose a list commit hash you can publish before clicking Draw.

Use cases

Use the beacon protocol for raffles, prizes and anything participants should not be able to compute in advance. Always share /d/{id} while the draw is still waiting.
